From The Kitchen
Thanks to everyone for the kind words (and constructive
criticisms) on Eat The State!'s new, expanded format. As you
might expect, we'll be working the bugs out for the next few
weeks. This week we had a tragic accident involving the
front cover. The person(s) responsible have been obliterated
and we promise that it will never ever ever happen again.
ETS! is primarily a local publication. As such, we're
committed to being available at no cost to as many folks as
possible, via print distribution points throughout the
Seattle area and via the Internet and radio. (We'll be
printing a list of distribution points in an issue soon.)
As it happens, even without asking we've also picked up
quite a few mail subscriptions. For that, we set a
subscription price equal to our printing and postage costs.
That's been about 45 cents an issue; we're now spending
another 10 cents an issue with the cost of printing four
more pages weekly, which is why prices are going up
accordingly. Hopefully, as we either increase our print runs
or our income from other sources, we'll be able to drop the
prices for mail delivery in the future.
You can subscribe before April 15 and avoid the increased
rate. And--guilt alert!--those of you not paying, but who
can afford to, ETS! has thus far thrived exclusively on
individual donations. If you like and support what we're
trying to do, please help us out. In return, we promise not
to ask for money very often at all, or to take up space
better used for, well, state-eating, reporting, rants, and
other mischief.
