Apr. 1. 1922: U.S. invades somewhere.
Apr. 2. 1786: First public allegations of CIA drug
smuggling. 1992: 17th Annual National Conference for Earnest
Discussion gathers in New York City. Topic: "500 Years of
Plenary Sessions."
Apr. 3. 1953: U.S. invades somewhere. 1969: Seattle police
shoot and kill unarmed youth. No charges are filed against
officers after investigators discover the victim was black.
Apr. 4. 1986: National March Against Something Or Another.
Several hundred thousand people gather at Ellipse in
Washington, D.C. to buy buttons, listen to echoes of self-
righteous speakers and cool bands for hours, and go home.
1989: U.S. invades somewhere.
Apr. 5. 1873: Birth of somebody who's never been featured on
a postage stamp in U.S. 1986: Wash. Post and N.Y. Times
report that 27 people gathered at Ellipse to protest
something or another. Page B32, under "Across The Nation,"
next to photo of counter-demonstrators.
Apr. 6. 1896: Seattle's first daily newspaper, "Boeing
News," established. Later becomes "Seattle Times."
Apr. 7. 1822: First crowd of 200 demonstrators protesting
U.S. policy gathers at what would later become 2nd and
Madison in downtown Seattle. 1998: U.S. invades somewhere.
