"Getting the files on Marx was a kind of shot in the dark. I had been aplaintiff in a lawsuit to the John Lennon FBI files. We recently settledmost of the issues in that case so I thought, 'After Lennon, why notMarx?'" -- Jon Wiener, a history professor at UC Irvine, who recently acquiredand made public the FBI's files on Groucho Marx through a Freedom ofInformation Act request. The FBI, however, is still withholding severalpages from the files "in the interest of national defense or foreignpolicy."
