GANE is the General Agreement on a New Economy, and CAIS, the Common Agreement on Investment in Society, is an alternative to the MAI (Multilateral Agreement on Investment). The MAI gives corporations the right to sue local, state and national governments if an environmental or labor law interferes with profits.
