Run for School Board!
Geov,
Your calls for the populace to rise up and overthrow the elitist oligarchy
within the [Seattle] school board can't be echoed enough.
Like a vast majority of my peers, I voted no confidence in Olchefsky last
month. But let's be real: canning Big O was merely a symbolic act. The
recent budget fiasco is simply a result of a decrepit system; a symptom of
a more foul disease. Dumping O will not cure the disease, ELECTING PUBLIC
OFFICIALS WHO HOLD THE RADICAL BELIEF OF ADEQUATE FUNDING FOR PUBLIC
EDUCATION MIGHT. We need people to RUN FOR OFFICE, and this platform alone
will give any candidate for any position (school board, state leg,
governor) 100% more backbone than the traitors already there. I IMPLORE
EVERY ETS! READER, ESPECIALLY FELLOW EDUCATORS, TO ASK THEMSELVES: WHY
DON'T I RUN FOR OFFICE? Seriously. Readers, please email me with your
response: lclaroche@hotmail.com

And the Monorail Election
To the Editor:
We the people voted three times for the Monorail. We finally had what we
wanted, and somehow, the next time we looked, the Monorail Board was all
Paul Allen clones. This is our project, and we need a voice. That's
why I plan to vote for Brent McMillan, whom I have known since 1992, for
the Monorail Board. He is vastly qualified, and in addition, he is a
neighborhood activist from Ballard, who is used to listening to us.
This election is in the fall, where one of two positions are being filled.
He is the one who pushed for campaign spending limits in this race; he
rather insisted on them. We need someone in there to look out for our
interests. Too bad there is not another candidate like him running for the
other position.
