Wedding Bell Blues
Dear ETS!,
Why do people keep saying we need a Marriage Amendment for the children?
Just a kind warning:
If you push through an anti-gay-marriage bill, what are you going to do if your own kid turns out to be gay?
Do you want to be part of the population that has to pay extra in legal bills just to have access to their own grandkids--or to be allowed into the emergency room if the grandkid is hurt? Or you're dying? Or to deed your property to the grandkid after your death?
Of course, if you like extra grief, expense, uncertainty, and misery in your own life, go ahead, pass the anti-gay-marriage bills as they come up.
It could happen to you.
What goes around comes around.

Dumb or Inept? You Decide
Dear ETS!,
Just a quick note on your article on Ronald Reegan. You made the comment that the CIA didn't even know that the Russian government would collapse. If you check the files, you'll see that the "Russian Expert" under Reagan was none other than Condi Rice. She was blithely unaware of the predictions by Kennan and the other Kennedy-era folks that had foreseen the downfall.
Looks like she doesn't have the best track record.
