Iraqis Ask America: When do we get our McDonalds?
by Vivian McPeak
How does one live correctly in a world that is spiraling out of control
like a Nascar tire going 130 MPH with only one lug-nut holding it on? Are
there enough anti-depressants to numb the gray matter of 5 billion
creatures with fillings, each one crawling on a microscopic dot of dust all
puffed up because their SUV has shiny new wheels on it until they realize
that they are going to die before they can count to 1,000,000?
No, really, I'm serious, or am I Sirius? It is all so relative, I need an
anti-anxiety pill. Of course there will be no problem getting one of those.
One in ten American men, women and children are currently on
anti-depressants. About three million of us. Three million Americans walked
into a doctor's office and said "I don't feel good, do you know what is
wrong with me?"
In keeping with the allopathic western medical approach the doctor's reply
was simple: "the problem with you is you have not been taking this pill".
You see, the corporations have taken over the planet and they are going to
kill us all. You probably don't get the connection yet, but I am referring
the corporate medical methodology of treating the symptom to make the
patient feel better so they can get back to being good little consumers,
even if it kills them. This time I am not Sirius.
Just take this pill, it may upset your stomach, but that's no problem, we
have another pill for that. But this pill could destroy your liver so we
will have to have you come in and get tested regularly. Instead of creating
a consciousness about true dietary nutrition, which is light years away
from the stuff Americans eat, we have created a pill for every bad feeling
we can get from treating ourselves like shit.
Allow me to generalize...
Most of these pills don't cure us, in fact they kill thousands every year,
but they make us FEEL better. And they do it right now, because we don't
have time for this sickness shit any more than we had time for nutrition.
We have to pay for the big screen crystal set! Can we expect to get better
when it is our society that is killing us?
Let's talk about that three million people on anti-depressants. Well,
either this is one really depressing society or they are feeding millions
of people billions of pills that they don't need. Or, my sinister mind
ponders, could both be true? Could our society be an uber-buzz-kill AND
could doctors be needlessly dispensing pills like they were Pezz candies at
a Halloween party? Do you choose door number one, or door number two?
I mean, what is there to be depressed about? We have a president (or do
we?) who has borrowed and spent more money in four years than any leader in
world history, and what has he spent it on? Killing. And he is not done, he
already needs more money (for more killing). Yeh, man, where is Momma's
little helper when she needs him?
G.W. Bush and his cronies decided they could put out a fire with high
octane gasoline. For decades the Muslims have been living over there and
the Christians have been living over here and there has been no problem.
Some wild eyed yahoo (Bin Laden) throws a rock through our window--granted
a very precious and priceless window so we bomb the entire neighborhood
into rubble.
But this is all common knowledge. What many Americans do not understand is
that America has been using high tech super-sci-fi weapons in Iraq and
Afghanistan, weapons that break international laws. And it is all being
kept secret. I can't prove it, but the truth will eventually seep through
the cracks in the veneer that the Bushites have lacquered over the casket
of freedom, over the corpse of democracy. But not before more babies are
vaporized in rare Darth Vader fashion.
And the American way is already catching on in Iraq. We came in and started
killing Iraqis, and look! Now Iraqis are killing Iraqis! Damn, we are good.
The daily numbers of Iraqi dead and wounded are staggering, and every mile
post that was supposed to bring an end to the violence has gone by with a
whimper and has made no dent in the violence at all. Imagine what it must
be like to live in the "free" Iraq right now. We think WE need
anti-depressants? Every night that any American goes to bed without
thinking of the horrific anxiety, fear, dread, and torture that the average
Iraqi experiences is an outrage. Most Americans don't even think about it,
I am sure. It is just some far away thing in some far off place.
The Iraqis have no reason at all to expect anything different for some
time. Can you imagine what that must be like to live in Iraq? If you said
"yes" you are a bald faced liar or perhaps a Neo-con. Many of us liberals
are beginning to wonder if there is any difference at all. Our armed forces
marched into these people's country unprovoked and we have killed so many
of their people that we pretend that we don't have any numbers on the dead.
This is all a part of the corporate jihad. Just substitute bombs for pills.
There are fact-cat arms dealers all over the world right now making bank on
every bullet shot, every bomb exploded, every Humvee tire that pops. For
every "kaboom" we hear they hear a "kaching". And what would any good
global domination be without the church? Do you hear any outrage coming
from the mainstream churches of America? They are cheering as mainstream
America gulps down the Iraq War as if it were a happy meal.
