From the Kitchen: The Fund Drive Continues
Whatever may have happened on Nov. 7 (this issue went to press on Election Day), the need for thriving, independent, community-based media-such as the very paper you're reading right now-continues. Did the Democrats win? Then we need independent media to help remind them what they owe the grass roots. Did the Repuglicans steal it again? Then we need independent media to keep raising hell about the Torture Party and its enablers until 2008, and beyond.
So, if you love Eat the State! and want to see it thrive well into its second decade, please consider a financial donation! We're currently in the fifth week of our 2006 fundraising drive, seeking to raise $6,000 to meet our upcoming printing and mailing costs. So far we've raised $900-a modest start. Thank you so much to those who've donated so far. If you're among those who haven't donated yet, remember that even a few bucks will mean a lot for this all-volunteer enterprise. And remember the incentives for those willing to donate $50 or more, namely, any one of the following premiums:
* Paul Loeb's inspiring anthology, The Impossible Will Take a Little While;
* an audio CD of the talk given by David Barsamian in Seattle last spring; or
* an Eat the State! t-shirt.
And a $100 or more donation will get you any two of the above! Please include a note with your donation indicating which premium(s) you choose. If you want a t-shirt, please specify color and size (see p. 8). You can mail your donations to our PO box, or donate via Paypal on our Web site, eatthestate.org.
Finally, don't forget our tenth anniversary party this weekend! The Asteroid restaurant, a long-time ETS! supporter and advertiser, will host the festivities on Sunday, Nov. 12, from 4 pm to 6 pm (see our ad on page p. 8 for the address and other info). Come mix and mingle with the folks who make ETS! happen! Hope to see you there! --the ETS! kitchen crew
