From The Kitchen
by the ETS! kitchen crew
Thank you! to all of you whose donations, subscriptions, and
renewals rallied at year's end to bring us almost--but not quite--to our
2006 Fund Drive goal of $6,000 raised. Along with a surprise unsolicited
grant from the Jessie Smith Noyes Foundation (thanks to them as well!),
we made it to $5,401.85. Anyone who still wants to help make up the
difference, of course, is more than welcome to do so.
Meanwhile, we have a couple of critical volunteer needs to fill. The
first is for a distribution coordinator: not the person who delivers
papers around town, but the person who keeps track of the many
volunteers who cover different routes in different parts of town, and
who helps train new distributors and fills vacant routes (including,
most recently, Fremont). Anyone interested in taking on this vital (and
not too time-consuming once you get the hang of it) task can contact
Lance at 206-632-2162 or advertising@eatthestate.org.
Also, for the paper itself, we need a new calendar editor. This is the
activist calendar that you see on the back of each issue; it involves
culling information from regular sources (like Jean Buskin's Peace
Calendar), plus the relevant notices we get via e-mail and snail mail.
It takes about 2-3 hours for each issue (every other week). Interested?
Call 206-719-6947 or e-mail info@eatthestate.org.
Let us know also if you'd like us to come table at your event. This
Saturday (Jan. 20), we'll be at the Town Hall benefit for Ground Zero,
featuring Dr. John Burroughs. See you there!
