Through April 14, the Seattle University Wismer Center for Gender & Diversity Studies presents a conference on race, gender, and family: Intersections Of Race And Gender: (Re) Imagining The Family. Through April 15, "Film, Faith, and Justice." University of Washington's Kane Hall, Seattle. This weekend-long event looks at current issues of social justice and faith through film and dialogue. 6:30 PM. Celebrate America's freedoms with Karl Rove! White House adviser Karl Rove will be the guest speaker at a King County Republicans annual Lincoln Day Dinner. Rove will give the keynote speech and participate in a roundtable discussion. The dinner will cost $50 for precinct committee officers and their guests, and $100 for others. Dr. Lafta, who teaches medicine at Baghdad's Al-Mustansirya University College of Medicine, co-authored the October 2006 Lancet article (British medical journal) that estimated more than 650,000 Iraqis have died as a result of the American-led invasion in 2003. Lafta will speak at a public gathering in Vancouver, BC, at Simon Fraser University; his talk will be video cast to UW's Kane Hall at the same time with the opportunity for inactive audience participation.
